It's Your Year to Finally Get Everything You Want

It's estimated that 40% of people set some pretty amazing intentions and goals at the beginning of each year, only to have abandoned, forgotten about, or let them go within a few weeks. It's not that we don't want what we've said we wanted, it's that we didn't set ourselves up for success.

Here are five no-fail strategies for making 2012 2013 the year you fully and finally finish what you start - and get what you want!
  1. Name it to claim it. Be clear, concise, and specific about what you want. You want to lose weight? How much? What do you weight now? How much will you weight when you're at your goal? What will you look like? Create that mental picture and the outfit that goes on that new body. Is it about the money? (Of course it is.) How much do you want to make? What are all of the ways it can come to you? Be open, there are always new ideas and opportunities just waiting to cross your path.
  2. Build your belief. Only when you truly believe you can do it will it happen. Make a list of all of the reasons why you know you can do it, and why you deserve the end results. Then post that list where you can see it all day, every day.
  3. What's your reward? I don't think it's enough to "just" achieve the goal. We all like a good present and there's nothing better than a self-selected, self-earned reward for a job well done. So, what is it? You're making your first million, so what will you be driving to the bank to make those deposits? You've lost 25 pounds, and chances are what's in your closet won't fit so well anymore...you'll need new duds so get your Nordstrom's personal shopper ready to help you show off that hard-earned tiny rear-end!
  4. Speaking of help: get support! No, not the kind you've had in the past that says, "You're already thin, eat the cheesecake!" The real kind of support! Find someone with the same or similar goals and hold each other accountable. Even better: form a mastermind. You can find out all you need to know about the power of the mastermind in Napoleon Hill's Law of Success.
  5. Make a plan and include: your vision, clear objectives, and potential pitfalls. There are always challenges that come up, pretty much right after you state your goals. These are designed to make sure you're really committed, that you really want what you've said you want. If you're ready for how you'll handle sickness, setbacks, and anything else that gets you off-track, you'll be ready to (a) handle them and (b) get back on track.
This is your year if you're really ready for it to be your year. Best wishes ~ the best is yet to come!

Get Ready for 2012, Part II

What an amazing week - it was so amazing that I've been delayed in putting up this post. (Thanks for waiting.)

If you've completed the steps in Part I, it's time to drill down your focus to the (a) the first 100 days of 2012, or (b) the next 100 days. It truly doesn't matter when you start. You won't want to waste a day, so be sure that when you start your 100 days, you're not taking off to much time to digest your turkey and pecan pie.

You'll find your 100 day Plan here

I'll explain the 100 days, how I came up with it, when, and why:

I started using this method more than 20 years ago for myself, and with my clients almost a decade ago now. It worked really well for me, and when I introduced it to my clients, it worked really well for them.

I prefer 100 days because it's longer than month. Thirty days goes by so quickly, especially if you're attempting to get "into momentum." Even with perfect performance, you'll rarely see results within 30 days when starting something from scratch. However, one year is an awfully long time, and it's tempting to feel like you have, well, a really long time. That pulls the urgency right out of you, because if you have a whole year to do something, then what's the rush? Having only three months and change keeps your attention, and therefore helps you create the desired results, and create them sooner.

Let's face it: when we're in a hurry, we eliminate all of the extraneous, non-productive activities and get done what needs to get done. The 100 day structure provides that for you. I chose 100 days, over using the traditional "quarters" (which are 88-92 days), because of the math. Yes, it's true, I do not prefer math ... unless it's adding up the dinero. Then I really like it. The added bonus is that if your goal is to earn, say, $100,000 in 100 days, that math is really easy and you always know, from day to day whether you're ahead, behind, or on track. As in, on day 57, you should have earned $57,000. At $50,000, you're 7% behind, at $80,000, you're 23% ahead. Simple and easy. Efficient and effective.

The 100-Day Plan is complimentary, and when you download it, you'll find it self-explanatory. Just fill it out, thoughtfully and intentionally, and then on your Day 1, you're ready to begin.

Cheers to a truly amazing 2012 for you!

Get Ready for 2012, Part I

December presents an excellent opportunity to create, mentally-first and in writing, the next year ... long before the year actually happens. Experts agree success comes faster and more easily to those who take the time to get clarity about what they want and then ink those desires.
In order for 2012 to be an excellent year for you, there are a few simple steps you can take over the coming week to ensure that what you want actually happens.
  1. Start with a "post-mortem" of 2011. Do an analysis of your entire work and personal life. What is, and has been, working? (Note: Do more of what's working.) What channels are your clients coming from (either a person or profession)? You'll want to deepen those relationships, and find new ones to model after them. Also, use this same analysis to determine what hasn't been working, where you've wasted time or been ineffective. (Note: Stop doing these things entirely.)
  2. Get clear about your outcomes and goals. Pick your Top 4 most important goals, the ones that if you achieve them will rock your world, change your financial future and destiny, and just make you really darn proud of yourself. Use the power of visualization and your subconscious mind to "future pace" yourself. What this mean is that you spend time mentally visualizing yourself at the end of next year, having achieved your goals. Take up to 30 minutes to get fully associated with the taste, touch, smells, sounds and feelings of achieving your goals. What does that new Mercedes sounds like? How does it feel to drive it to your appointments? Who is with you in the car? Then, spend just a few minutes in your visualization every morning before you leap out of bed and right before you fall asleep. This will help you to keep moving when you encounter obstacles (see #3), or when you just simply don't feel like making another call, having another meeting, or working at all.
  3. By now you're probably getting excited about 2012, so let's ensure your success. Take just a few minutes to identify potential obstacles. People can be roadblocks to our success, by taking longer than we'd like or saying 'no.' Sometimes things happen outside of our control. You have three choices within any situation: accept, change or eliminate it. You can accept a 'no' from one potential client, especially if you have ten others in the mix. You can eliminate a toxic situation, or simply accept it "as is." But the best way to handle an obstacle is mentally, in advance. Know that obstacles are going to come your way, recognize that, and deal with them accordingly ... all while you keep moving.
  4. Map out the road to your goals, and create your yearly plan. Identify the best action steps, the ones you know you need to execute in order to succeed. Others will reveal themselves to you along the way. But for right now, having a solid, written plan that you review on a daily or almost-daily basis is key. I also suggest you make your plan one that helps you to hit 125% of your actual goals. That's right, if you want to make $1 million in 2012, make a plan to hit $1.25 million. That way, you might not hit $1.25M, but you'll surely crush the million because of your plan and massively taking those right action steps.
  5. Finally, you have many good, solid business days left in this year -- why not get a running start on next year by finishing this year strong? You'll have the added benefit of being in momentum when the clock starts on next year.
Next year, at this time, you can look back over the past year and know you squeezed every drop out of it. Are you ready? I am!
